Introduction

This is a handbook, a guide of sorts, for students entering the University of New England in future years. Entering college is one of the biggest transitions a student will take and sometimes we can feel as if we’re being thrown on the front lines. Every campus, curriculum, and community are different, making general introductory “college guides” useless because of their broad and basic information. This handbook stands to give students accurate information specifically surrounding UNE’s Biddeford campus to ensure students are able to succeed throughout their years at UNE.

This Handbook consists of three big lessons that are some of the most important to keep in mind when starting college in general, but definitely when starting at UNE. These lessons consist of various aspects within each one that are here to help students overcome the challenges and rigors of the college lifestyle. It’s important to care for yourself, socially, academically, and mentally and these lessons explain some ways to do so. Throughout each of the lessons, there are quotes from current students, a professor, and a staff member of UNE that help explain the importance of each of the lessons. Entering college can be scary, but you aren’t alone.
